When the self-proclaimed "meddling" matchmaking widow Dolly Levi
arrives in Yonkers, New York, love is in the air not only for her
client, the gruff Horace Vandergelder (the well-known
half-a-millionaire), but also for his niece, his hay and feed store
clerks, and even for Dolly herself. Laughter and love walk
hand-in-hand through this charming and hilarious musical.
Based on The Matchmaker', this multi-Tony Award-winning musical
features lyrics and music by Jerry Herman including Put on Your
Sunday Clothes, Ribbons Down My Back, Before the Parade Passes By,
It Only Takes a Moment So Long, Dearie and of course the
title song, Hello, Dolly!
"Money is like manure. It's not worth a thing unless it's
spread about, encouraging young things to grow."
